Paljakka Cloudberry Slate
The texture of Paljakka Cloudberry is typical of micaceous schists: micas are strongly foliated. Small round grains of plagioclase and quartz are found among micas. A greenish brown mica (biotite) has grown over the ground mass. These micaceous grains are visible and contribute to the mottled appearance of schists. Micaceous schists (biotite) are full of small enclosings. This texture binds the mica to other minerals, and thus, the micaceous layers are securely attached to the rock and schist surface. Muscovite sheets (light mica) are found in the microsection. The structure contributes to the typical thin-layered, light coloured slaty structure.
