Scheinsberg Oberbank
The bluish-grey to beige-brown Muschelkalk (shell limestone) from the Triassic period (Upper Muschelkalk) is extracted from the Scheinsberg Quarry near Winterhausen, in the Würzburg district. Scheinsberg Muschelkalk is an ideal natural stone for cladding facades and was selected, for example, for the Uni-Spital (University Hospital) in Zurich. It is particularly prized for its characteristic texture, colour and density.
Many historic buildings throughout Germany dating from about 1900 are built of the Limestone from Winterhausen.
