Cork Care & Maintenance
May 22,2008
As with any quality floor, regular maintenance will keep your cork floor looking beautiful and assure its long life, even under heavy use.Keep the floor surface free of dirt and grit through regular mopping. Use a WELL wrung out damp mop to perform this procedure. Clean up spills and excess water immediately. Never flood the floor surface with any liquid or use harsh abrasive cleaners.

Notice points as follow
• Vacuum-clean or sweep regularly to eliminate dirt and grit that can act like sandpaper, scratching the floor.
• Use walk-off mats at doors and by the kitchen sink. Avoid rubber-backed or other nonventilated mats or rugs.
• Use only cleaners specified for use on prefinished hardwood available from your local retailer or home center. Wet maintenance is forbidden.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Also use a rug in front of the stove.
• Install proper protectors under furniture feet.
• If chairs have wheeled casters, they should be wide.
• Maintain minimum humidity of 50 percent. If necessary, use a humidifier.
• Periodically check floor for signs of wear. When the floor starts to show a traffic pattern and signs of wear, it is time to renew the finish. For cork floors with an acrylic finish, a coat of polyurethane will make it look new again and prolong its life.
