The rich and wide range of nature of the native land. So usually for us, and at the same time, a unique facing stone granite is considered the greatest abundance of Golovino land. Even in childhood, when we went swimming or fish, we collected bluish stones and made a competition in order to find out whose stone was the best. Subsequently, the Labrador became known as not just a rock, but as subsoil mined from the bowels of the tireless hands of our people.
Golovino settlement appeared at the site of discovered labradorite resources. A lot of information on the discovery itself and the granite composition was known thanks to geography and history lessons. But there was a desire to learn more. After reading various literature, I got acquainted with the geological structure of the area. Accurate data on the geological past at the mountain site. rocks were presented in reports of geological expeditions. I was lucky to see some of these reports. Accurate maps were compiled on a rather large scale (1: 50,000 / 500 m - 1 cm), show that the deposit is located on the edge of the Korosten pluton and there are enough labradorite resources. Geological exploration has become the basis for the discovery of more of some quarries, except for those that I examined in detail.
The downstream geological structure is represented by the Upper Proterozoic crystalline formations (granites, labradors, gabbro-norites and gabbros) with Quaternary sandy-clay sediments covering them. The field has been explored at a depth of 60 m. Labradorites located here have a color from dark gray to black, with an uneven coarse-grained structure. Eyes are represented by plagioclase crystals with good iridescent in bright blue and blue-blue hues. There are about 250 to 300 rainbow cells that can be found in the 1m2 area. Golovino dark labradorite mining the field began around 1900, while the main quarry of this field was discovered in 1901, labradorites from this quarry were used to clad a number of houses in Kiev; . in particular, this stone was used for the construction of columns on the front of the National Bank of Ukraine building, facing the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine building. A large number of Ukrainian Labradors WAS exported to France, Italy and other countries, where they were used as a material for facing buildings and structures of monuments. Decorative properties of Ukrainian Labradors are recognized to be much higher than Labradors from other countries.
Ukrainian labradorites and gabbro-norites are widely recognized in Poland and Germany. Some Japanese, Italian companies, as well as companies from other countries, announced their intention to conclude trade agreements with Ukraine on labradorite and gabbro-norite delivery units.
LABRADORIT from the Golovinsky deposit may not be smoothly divided, but it is easily sawn and polished, ensuring high quality for nails. This labradorite is suitable for the manufacture of decorative products to the side, while its rainbow crystals can be used for various products.
Gabbro-norites are considered to be fine-grained, uniform and solid forming a monochrome dark gray color, without grooves. Polished pattern is a black formation with light, often an olive tint. Being in a monolith, gabbro-norit has a monochrome gray-brown color without any shade. Crushed stone polished sample provides the surface of the stone with a lighter color. The color of the polished surface has a clearly defined depth different from other widely black stones, such as, for example, andesite or basalt.
