In a mix of tradition and modernity where past meet with extreme care to the book, they choose, sawing, turning, shaping CREULLY STONE, bearer of all its credentials to its place of installation as it once was in the time of the cathedrals of Builders.
Historic
Established since 1956 LA PIERRE D'ORIVAL has adapted to economic changes over the years. After the trading of wood and coals 60s and 70s Orival stone was soon specializing in the activity of the stone.
Three generations succeeded one another until 1997 when the current manager Mr. JEAN PIERRE CONRAUD itself stonemason bought the company and more developed business size and stone sculpture.
The geographic location of the Company in the career allows him to exploit STONE CREULLY, with its rich past.
Indeed, the exploitation of PIERRE DE CREULLY began in the time of William the Conqueror.
Many buildings of this period built with this material are still visible today in our region: the castle and the church of Creully dating from the eleventh century, the fortified farms, mansions, Brécy Castle and its gardens designed by Ours, the fountain henry castle, bear witness to the extensive use of this stone since.
Nowadays, the current operation reveals the traces of that past. Several working faces dating from the origin are clearly visible, suggesting the methodology used in the extraction (size hand and systematic undercutting of the working face forming an inverted funnel facilitating sampling work blocks obtained)
