Bellstone sprang to life in 1991 when three enterprising employees of the retail network called The Slate People went solo after its collapse. The company operated out of a tin shed in Northmead for many years and were importers of Welsh roofing slate and slate floor tiles from India, China and later South Africa. 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the company which commenced after the McAlpine Group signed the first Australian distribution rights to whole Welsh slate. Since that time Bellstone has imported over 320 containers of the famous “heather blue” roofing slates that has been such an important roofing material to the developing colony since the early 1800s. The company expanded its product range by importing roofing slate from Spain, USA & Canada. They also started importing slate from South Africa, sandstone & slate from India, quartzite, slate & bluestone from China, travertine, limestone & marble from Turkey.  Bellstone became pioneer importers in the stone industry long before internet access was available.
The company was purchased in 2004 by Sandy & Victoria Yeates who continued the tradition of “best quality, best service, every time...on time”. The business moved to larger premises in Wetherill Park in 2008 where it still operates today servicing retail shops, building trade, architectural & designer enquiries as well as home owners & renovators. The premises at Wetherill Park has an office, showroom and large beautifully maintained warehouse that is used to show customers open crates of some of the world’s finest stone and slate.
