Because Cantera stone forms naturally over time, it is incredibly durable and weather resistant. While incredibly durable, it is significantly lighter than marble or granite, making it much easier to use for carving, masonry, etc.

Cantera Stone is a porous stone, it is permeable, it can be used if sealant is made very well, but it is a costly stone as it will require maintenance over time, therefore it is not preferred as a countertop in indoor spaces.
