About Lilac Ceramic Tile: Ceramic tiles have been used for centuries and offer designers/contractors more options in color, texture, pattern, and overall beauty than most other floor and wall covering materials. Ceramic tile is made of red, white, or brown clay and kiln-fired at a lower temperature to create a strong, resilient material. Ceramic is softer, more porous, less dense, and more affordable than porcelain tile. Besides, it is easy to cut, work with, and apply, so it’s a great option for do-it-yourself projects.

Ceramic tile may be the only flooring material that truly works in any room of the house. It's most often used in kitchens and bathrooms as well as foyers, mudrooms, and other high-traffic areas. But many homes, especially in warm climates, use tile to great effect in living areas and bedrooms, too.

Ceramic tile is hard and brittle, it is prone to cracking and chipping from impacts. Replacing a damaged tile without doing harm to adjacent tiles is a difficult undertaking. On countertops, the grout between tiles can become dirty and discolored. Grout is hard to clean.

Fill a bucket with hot water, a half cup of vinegar and a half tablespoon of dish soap. Don't use too much soap, or the soapy residue will make your floors look dull. Before you mop, rinse out the mop head under hot running water to remove any debris from last time you used it. Mop the tile floors with soapy water.

Cracked tiles are usually the result of other underlying issues, mostly likely incorrect installation. However, it could also be due to extreme temperature changes, cracks in the substrate (or surface the tile is laid on), supporting too much weight or something as simple as a heavy item being dropped on them.

They are called Talavera tiles. Today's “True” Talavera tile and pottery comes from the rich black and white volcanic soils in and around Puebla, Mexico. Here the tradition and technique of hand-forming these tiles define this vivid craft.
