Machinery Function Features
The gas filling tank is one of the primary pieces of equipment used in gas explosion operations, mainly utilized to transfer gases like carbon dioxide and liquid oxygen from the tank into the rock splitting tube for rock blasting.
Allowed Media: LO₂, LN₂, LAr, LCO₂, LNG
Design Temperature: -196°C
Design Pressure: 1.59 MPa, 2.5 MPa
The cylinder is designed as a cryogenic insulated pressure vessel with a double-layer vacuum structure. The inner vessel stores cryogenic liquids such as LO₂, LN₂, LAr, LCO₂, and LNG. It is wrapped with multi-layer insulation material that provides superior thermal insulation. Additionally, the jacket (the space between the two vessel layers) is evacuated to a high vacuum, forming an effective heat insulation system.
To protect the cylinder from overpressure, the inner vessel is equipped with two relief valves or a relief valve and a bursting disc. In case of overpressure, the relief valve opens to release the pressure increase caused by normal heat leakage, accelerated heat leakage after vacuum damage, or fire conditions.
The outer shell is protected against overpressure conditions by an annular vacuum plug. If the inner vessel leaks—resulting in excessively high pressure inside the jacket—the vacuum plug will open to relieve pressure. "Sweating" and frosting on the outer shell can be observed if a vacuum plug leak causes vacuum damage. However, frost or condensation at the end of the pipe connected to the cylinder body is normal.
When filling an empty cylinder or for the first time (if filling with liquid oxygen or liquefied natural gas, a grounding device should be used), the cylinder should be filled with dry, hot inert gas to replace the air inside, remove moisture, and eliminate air and impurities in the connection hose. Filling is only permitted outdoors. (When filling with liquid carbon dioxide, the pressure should be increased to no less than 1.3 MPa.)
