The company of Kamenkras is a family-type and family-owned company. It was founded in 1991, at that time under the exclusive ownership of the father - Aleksander Zavadlav. During the period 1978 - 1991 the today's company operated (at that time under the "socialist" form of TOZD*) as a part of major companies such as Komunala Nova Gorica, Kraški zidar Sežana and Marmor Sežana. Before 1978, Aleksander's father Ivan Zavadlav carried out (independently) the activity of stone-cutting and stone-working. This fact reveals that the tradition of stone-working is an important feature of the Zavadlav family. The most important change in the structure of the ownership of the company took place in 2005 when Aleksander Zavadlav (the father) passed his 100 % ownership (due to his retirement) to his three sons. However, important changes in the organisation of the company are taking place in this very period since the company is carrying out extensive investments in new production facilities and technology. The aim of the company is, of course, to preserve this family tradition and to pass it on to future generations. The company has always been (and so it still is) able to carry out manual stone-work (unique products!) and, of course, all kinds of machine stone-work, as well as setting up products in their final position (a group of specially trained masons is at disposal). In order to comply with the growing demand of the market and to assure an appropriate competitiveness the company is in continuous search for ever-better technical / technological solutions.
