Pedrini bridge saw M920 cuts slabs and semi-finished products of marble, granite and other natural stones by means of a diamond disc.
M920 is highly competitive and efficient, its sturdy structure and user friendliness ensure perfection and linearity of the vertical and bevel cutting performance.
Each model can be fitted with several optional accessories which allow to tailor the machine according to each customer’s needs.
The machine is programmable through a big size touchscreen colour monitor. The rotating bench is available in different models.
M920 structure is mainly composed of a bridge and a mobile disc-holder trolley. Two bridge cross beams are fixed to concrete walls. The bridge has been manufactured in large thickness honeycomb structure and machined on all the reference surfaces by one sole positioning on tool machine.
All parts have undergone structural checks following the FEM (Finite Element Method) and their precision ensures perfect machine geometry and correct assembly on site. The machine surface is protected with two layers of paint applied after the sandblasting operation.
The exclusive “V” shaped double guides which linearly and constantly drive the disc-holder trolley along the bridge are machined onto the upper part of the bridge. The two sliding side cross beams are equipped with adjustment and foundations fixing systems. The disc-holder trolley houses the disc up and down movement and, upon request, the tilting movement to 45° or 90°.
X AXIS: CUTTING AND RETURN STROKES
The disc-holder trolley moves along the bridge through a combined gear motor/pinion/rack system powered by inverter and controlled by encoder which displays the position along the stroke. Protection carters efficiently cover the oil bath guides.
Y AXIS: LEFT AND RIGHT MOVEMENT
The transversal bridge movement is driven by a Cycle Drive gear motor controlled by inverter and encoder which shows the data on the display. The two side pinions are connected by a single shaft which ensures the positioning uniformity. The oil bath tracks are protected from water and dust.
Z AXIS: UP AND DOWN MOVEMENT
The up and down movement is fixed on the disc-holder trolley structure and slides along two prismatic guides driven by a gear motor/precision screw system and it is powered by an inverter and controlled by an encoder which shows the data on the display.
A AXIS: DISC TILTING MOVEMENT
When available, the disc tilting movement inclines the whole up and down axis up to 45° allowing the tilting cuts, also step cutting, and is driven by a self-braking gear motor with inverter and encoder.

This machine is composed of bridge stank, upper transmission unit,left and right moving mechanism, vertical arm, left and right side beam, block delivery trolley truck, and so on. The brief introduction to them as follows.The bridge stand is composed of bridge stand, sliding plates, spanning rack, fixing bush andhorizontal cutting, and so on. When the vertical cutting is completed and horizontal cutting begins, horizontal cutting blade carries on longitudinal lateral cutting which cuts off the plate and finishes the whole cutting operation. The height of horizontal blade could be adjusted by worm-wheel reduction box.The upper transmission part: This part consists of reducer motor, transmission shaft,connecting sleeve, bracket and bevel gear. When bridge stand elevates, the motion of motor for elevating is output from reducer motor through transmission shaft and bevel gear to lead screw which drives bridge stand to elevate.Left and right movement part: This part is composed of reducing gear, gear, spindle and splitwheel. When bridge stand moves, the motion of motor is transmitted to main gear which is engaged with the rack at the top of side beam and drives bridge frame to move to the right and the left. The amount of movement can be controlled by control panel.The vertical arms part: This part consists of four groups of vertical arms, two pieces at eachside and all are jointed with upper beam, left and right screw nut seat moves along the guide rails of vertical arm up and down, which makes bridge stand elevate.Left and right side beam part: This part is consist of left and right side beam, rack, slidingberth and screw nut seat. The left and right side beams are jointed with vertical arm by screw nut seat. At their top, there are rack and sliding berth assembly which is used to support bridge stand. The engagement space between rack and gear could be adjusted by reducer motor and bearing seat.Block delivery trolley truck part: It consists of reducing box, axle, chassis and track wheel,and so on. The truck is driven by independent motor. The chassis is made from profile steel and steel plate by means of welding. The motion of motor is reduced by reduction box and drives the wheel to rotate along guide rail, which carries out block conveying.

This bridge saw has everything a technologically advanced bridge saw needs to have today: 5 interpolated axis, spindle with half inch fitting with trough-spindle lubrication, tilting table up to 85°, vacuum system for parts movement during automatic cut process, on-board camera, blade and stone thickness probe (optional).
Relationship between the slab size and overall size of the machine
The first evident advantage is the ratio between working area and overall machine dimensions.
This machine with a working area of 4000mm x 2420mm occupies only 15.5 square meters, making it possible to fit two machines in the space of a traditional bridge saw.
Easy unload of parts from the table
The table has three sides that are always accessible to the operator, who can then unload parts more easily and more safely.
Increased rigidity of the machine
The guides of the bridge are anchored to the ground and thus provide a better rigidity to the whole machine.
Bridge resistance to twisting
5-axis bridge saws are exposed to always-changing twist forces, because the blade cutting direction is not always parallel to the bridge.
The shorter bridge solidly anchored, not on wheels or rollers, has greatly improved twist resistance.
Improved Z axis rigidity
An improved motor tilting system combined with a correctly sized blade allowed us to lower the bridge and to shorten the Z slide.
The shorter Z frontally mounted on the bridge has increased rigidity but kept the same working height capacity.
Lower water consumption
The traditional cooling system expects huge quantity of water to cool 30% of the blade perimeter, or only the contact side, this cover (patent n° 3684608) keeps the blade submerged in water for 70% of the perimeter.
Cooling trough submersion needs less water and almost totally eliminate water splashes.
Rapid movements
The smaller size of the machine allows it to reach a point before compared to a larger machine.
Blade motor with vector technology
A vector motor and an induction motor have different performance.
With the same consumption (kW) the vector motor has twice the torque (Nm).
Vector motor technology allows the motor to keep a constant torque up to 6000 rpm, instead with an induction motor, even if controlled by VFD, as the speed increases it loses torque, but the consumption increases.
Using vector motor technology allowed us to increase performance, and drastically reduce consumption and the dimensions of the blade motor.
Increased cutting depth
The motor and flange diameter of only 160mm allows cutting 100mm thick stone with a blade of only 360mm diameter.
With a traditional motor you would instead need a 450mm blade to cut the same thickness.
Better cutting performance
A small blade because it’s thinner reduces sludge left from the cutting process, also because it’s cutting less it can cut faster, and it leaves shorter overcuts. Another advantage of a small blade is that it requires less water and less power to run.
Machine installation
Machine’s mono-block structure allows installation in less than a full working day on a flat concrete floor, without needing to spend more to build walls or special foundations.
