You can use a table saw to cut stone if the saw has a diamond blade that is kept continually wet while cutting. A regular table saw blade will not create a smooth cut. The blade will chip the stone and will also produce a large amount of dangerous silica dust. A table saw is great for everyday projects.
Wet your stone in a bowl or bucket of water to prevent an initial dry cut. Place the stone on the opposite end of the tile saw from yourself.
