Can Bulgaria's Sliven Tufa Tuff be used exterior applications in very rainy climates?

The Sliven Tufa Tuff, a type of limestone found in Bulgaria, can generally be used for exterior applications in rainy climates. However, it is important to consider a few factors: 1. Porosity: Tufa Tuff is known for its porous nature. This means that it can absorb water, which may lead to deterioration and discoloration over time. In very rainy climates, where there is excessive moisture, the porosity of the stone could be a concern. It may absorb more water and require additional maintenance or treatments to protect it. 2. Freeze-thaw cycles: Rainy climates often experience fluctuations in temperatures, leading to freeze-thaw cycles. These cycles can be damaging to porous stones like Tufa Tuff. When water enters the pores and freezes, it can cause the stone to crack or spall. Regular sealing and proper maintenance can help minimize the risks associated with freeze-thaw cycles. 3. Durability and strength: While Tufa Tuff can be suitable for exterior applications, it is relatively soft compared to other stones. It may not have the same durability or strength as harder stones like granite or sandstone. If the stone is exposed to heavy rains and potentially harsh weather conditions, it may be more prone to erosion or damage. Considering these factors, it is recommended to consult with a local architect, builder, or stone professional who can assess the specific requirements of your project and provide guidance on whether Sliven Tufa Tuff is suitable for exterior applications in your particular rainy climate.

Dear Sir or Madam, I'm in charge of finding substitution stones for the restoration of an old church in Belgium. It is partially built with a local Belgian Kalktuff that is not extracted anymore in our regions. So I have to find a substitution stone. Could it be possible for you to provide me with some information or a technical datasheet of your stone ? Would it be possible for you to send me a piece of your stone to show to the architects for whom I'm working. It would be important to compare your product to the original one. I do not have for the moment any idea of the volume of stone that would be necessary for the restoration. It won't be huge volumes. I really hope to get your feedback soon. Let me know if you need more information on the project. Thank you very much for your support.
