Fratelli Pacifici S.p.A was founded in 1939 by brothers Cesare and Lorenzo Pacifici. At the start, the company ran a travertine quarry at Bagni di Tivoli (now Tivoli Terme). Immediately after the Second World War, in the early 1950s the company consolidated and expanded its activities, building a sawmill and workshop. This leap forward gave Pacifici travertine a nationwide market. In the early 1960s, after further increasing its extraction activity, the company began exporting to other European countries, and especially Germany, France, Holland, and Belgium. By decade’s end, the second generation of Pacifici – cousins Tommaso and Alessandro – had arrived, and the company picked up even more steam with the application of the industrial diamond to machinery. This innovation made it possible to improve stone-working quality and to quite substantially increase both extraction and transformation potential. All this was to bring Pacifici travertine onto the global market: the United States, South America, the Middle East, and Asia. The second half of the 1990s saw the third generation of Pacifici join the company’s management: cousins Marco and Francesco, who today lead the firm with the same passion and criteria of quality and innovation cherished by the two generations that preceded them.
