The first thing to look for when choosing bathroom equipment is durability. While acrylic shower trays may seem like a good choice, stone and resin shower trays will guarantee much higher durability and strength. They are harder, tolerate loads better, and the outer coating is more resistant to scratches and cracks.

Natural stone can make a classy, comfortable shower when used and cared for properly. The most popular stones for the shower are marble and granite, mainly because they look nice and are easy to care for. Onyx, sandstone and travertine also make great options for showers, but these stones need to be properly sealed.

To get the best appearance from your natural stone or resin shower tray we advise using a non-abrasive cloth and a household cleaner. Simply spray the cleaner and leave for a few minutes. Once this has been done wipe away the cleaner smoothly and there is your sparkling bath!

Use a nylon-bristle scrubbing brush and gently scour the pebbles and grout in a circular motion. Make sure you scrub thoroughly and get around the stones as well as in any corners if you want a truly clean pebble shower floor. Turn your shower on and rinse the entire shower floor with warm water until it rinses clean.

Natural stone bathroom shower trays do not break easily when they are made of hard and non-crack stone in sufficient thickness, but care must be taken in assembly, there should be no gaps at the bottom during placement. If the crack was the result of something being dropped in the shower, then you should be able to repair it yourself without issue. However, large cracks or a series of small cracks could be a sign that the base of your shower is not sufficiently supported or needs to be replaced.

If the correct surface application is not made, it can be slippery. The natural stone surface to be used on the shower floor can be grooved, some surface shapes can be scraped, or you should obtain some special shower mats that will prevent slipping.

Sealing your shower floor pebbles is an important step in keeping your pebbles looking great for years to come. Before you grout your pebble tiles we recommend you seal them first. This can be done with a good quality penetrating sealer.
